GTD records 29,300 traffic violations in 8-day crackdown, arrests 216 criminals

Kuwait’s security and traffic campaigns recorded 29,300 traffic violations over eight days, while authorities arrested wanted persons and residency violators and impounded hundreds of vehicles and motorcycles.

The General Directorate of Emergency Police, in a campaign from September 27 to October 3, carried out 1,729 security operations and recorded 929 traffic violations. It arrested 197 wanted persons, 112 people for expired residency and 63 individuals without official identification. Authorities also seized 15 wanted vehicles, referred 22 suspected individuals to the General Directorate for Drug Control, impounded four vehicles and dealt with 94 traffic accidents.

Emergency police patrols also provided 581 cases of humanitarian assistance, reflecting their role in responding to emergencies and supporting road users. Separately, the General Traffic Department recorded 28,371 traffic violations between September 28 and October 4 and dealt with 2,994 traffic reports. It arrested 19 wanted persons and 25 people with expired residency, while five juveniles were referred to the Juvenile Prosecution.

Traffic authorities also seized 11 wanted vehicles and impounded 305 vehicles and 19 motorcycles for traffic violations. A total of 43 people were detained and legal measures were taken against them. During the same period, traffic patrols dealt with 1,713 collision accidents and 206 accidents involving injuries, as part of continued field operations and rapid response to traffic incidents.
