. . . call for unified response at Manama meeting

The Chiefs of Staff of the armed forces of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) convened in Manama during a meeting of the Supreme Military Committee to discuss ways to strengthen joint military cooperation and enhance collective defense capabilities among member states.

The meeting focused on expanding coordination frameworks, improving readiness, and reinforcing joint action mechanisms to address evolving regional security challenges.

During the meeting, Bahraini Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Dhiab Al Nuaimi emphasized the need for stronger Gulf unity in response to what he described as sustained regional security threats.

He stated that GCC countries are facing coordinated security challenges affecting civilians and maritime routes, including threats to navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.

He stressed that such developments require enhanced solidarity and a unified approach to defense cooperation among GCC states.

Lieutenant General Al Nuaimi highlighted the importance of establishing a comprehensive and practical framework for joint military cooperation. He noted that such a framework should be built on shared interests, common security goals, and existing agreements between GCC countries.

He added that the current security environment calls for a coordinated and rapid-response capability to address threats that could impact regional stability.

Participants at the meeting underscored the importance of transforming joint cooperation into structured defense mechanisms capable of responding effectively to emerging risks.

The discussions reflected a shared commitment to strengthening military integration and ensuring long-term security and stability across the Gulf region.
