Fourth GCC Organ Transplantation and Nephrology Congress opens
Dr. Turki Al-Otaibi stated that the event aims to raise awareness and improve healthcare for kidney patients in Kuwait, the Gulf, and the Arab region, with Kuwait continuing to lead in kidney transplantation and healthcare development.

• Dr. Turki Al-Otaibi, President of the Kuwait Society for Organ Transplantation, said the Fourth GCC Organ Transplantation and Nephrology Congress will cover the latest scientific developments in kidney transplantation, acute and chronic renal failure, immune kidney diseases, blood and peritoneal dialysis, as well as the treatment of critical kidney disease cases, including kidney disease in children.
Dr. Turki Al-Otaibi, President of the Kuwait Society for Organ Transplantation, announced the opening of the Fourth GCC Organ Transplantation & Nephrology Congress, which will run until January 25, under the patronage of Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadhi, the Minister of Health, as reported by Al Jarida newspaper.
Al-Otaibi stated in a press statement that the conference is part of ongoing efforts to raise awareness and enhance the quality of healthcare for kidney patients in Kuwait, the Gulf countries, and the Arab region. He emphasized that Kuwait has been, and will continue to be, a leader in the field of kidney transplantation and healthcare development.
He added that the conference is organized by prestigious entities, led by the Ministry of Health, represented by the Kuwait Center for Kidney Diseases and Transplantation, in collaboration with the Kuwait Association of Nephrology, the Kuwait Institute of Medical Specialties, the Arab Society of Kidney Diseases and Transplantation, the International Society of Nephrology, the International Society of Pediatric Nephrology, and the International Society of Peritoneal Dialysis.
Al-Otaibi pointed out that the conference will cover the latest scientific developments in kidney transplantation, acute and chronic renal failure, immune kidney diseases, blood and peritoneal dialysis, as well as the treatment of critical kidney disease cases, including kidney disease in children.
Twelve sessions and over fifty lectures
He explained that the scientific program will feature twelve sessions and more than fifty lectures by international experts and consultants from countries such as the UK, the USA, Canada, Germany, and India, along with specialists from the GCC, Kuwait, and other Arab countries. This broad participation underscores the conference’s importance as a platform for exchanging knowledge and expertise.
Al-Otaibi further noted that the conference aims to strengthen collaboration among medical sectors, healthcare professionals, and researchers to identify the best treatment approaches for kidney diseases and address the challenges faced. He reiterated that Kuwait remains at the forefront of kidney transplantation and healthcare development.
