A night filled with the culture and essence of Andalusia was brought to Kuwait by the ‘Annabelle Veloso’ flamenco band, performing on the stage of “Abdul Hussein Abdul Reda,” as reported by Al Rai newspaper.

The Spanish Evening, held on Wednesday, was sponsored by the National Council for Culture, Arts, and Literature and organized by the Spanish Embassy in Kuwait to strengthen cultural ties between the two countries.

The event was attended by H. E. Miguel Moro Aguilar, the Spanish Ambassador to Kuwait, along with ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, and a diverse audience of art and culture enthusiasts from around the world.

For over 60 minutes, attendees of various Arab and Western nationalities were captivated by performances of singing, playing, and dancing, expressing a spectrum of emotions from love to joy, pain, and sadness.

A variety of ‘flamenco’ styles were showcased this evening, originating from diverse places such as the Sacromonte caves in Granada and the neighborhoods of Seville and Cordoba, among others. These performances were delivered by four beautiful and creative dancers led by Annabelle Veloso.

Each dance featured different outfits, designed and colored to match the spirit and strength of the song. Accompanying the dances were famous songs sung by Jose Luis, who captivated the audience with his powerful voice and improvisational skills.

The creativity of the dances was further enhanced by the melody and warmth of Gabriel Pérez’s guitar strings, accompanied by the sound of percussion. Together, they harmonized to create an audio-visual masterpiece that resonated with the audience’s emotions, proving that art transcends language barriers and can be understood and appreciated universally.

“Personal farewell”

The Spanish ambassador delivered a speech to his guests before the start of the ceremony, in which he said, “This concert is my last cultural event in Kuwait, as it is my last month as an ambassador here. It is a personal farewell to the Kuwaiti public, with my deep appreciation and gratitude for the beautiful years I spent among them.”

He concluded by saying: “I would like to express my deep gratitude to the National Council for Culture, Arts and Literature in Kuwait for hosting us and participating in sponsoring this activity.”

Hassan Jumaa dazzles the Spaniards

Before the end of the concert, guitarist Hassan Juma appeared to dazzle both band members and attendees with his great skill and professionalism in playing the guitar.

He participated with Gabriel Pérez in eulogizing the legendary international Spanish guitarist Paco de Lucía, who died in 2014, through their rendition of his famous piece “Entre Dos Aguas”. They formed a harmonious duet that was not devoid of Gomaa’s solo playing and received warm applause and praise from the audience.
