Expat woman leaves Kuwait with child after selling household items

. . . informs husband via WhatsApp message of intention for divorce

An Arab man has filed a complaint at a Hawally police station after his wife allegedly sold most of the contents of their marital home and left the country with their child while he was at work.

The husband, 36, said he left home at around 6:30 a.m. for work and returned at about 4:00 p.m. to find household furniture, electronics, personal belongings, and gold jewelry missing. He also discovered that his wife and child were no longer in the country.

He stated that repeated attempts to contact his wife were unsuccessful until 8:00 p.m., when he received a WhatsApp message informing him that she had left with their son and intended to part ways, either through divorce or what is known as ‘khula’.

According to the complaint, the wife allegedly took advantage of his absence to sell the household items before leaving Kuwait. The husband claimed the couple had been experiencing only routine marital disagreements and said there was no justification for the sudden departure.

He further alleged that the departure and sale of belongings were carefully planned over a period of time.
