‘Education Ministry’ monitors violations in printing presses ensuring fairness in school exams

Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, Minister of Education, has taken decisive and firm measures following discovery of serious violations related to management of exams in secret printing presses and the control work guide.

  • Education Ministry’s main objective is to achieve justice, integrity, equal opportunities, ensuring stability in educational process.

  • Al-Tabtabaei reaffirmed to develop examination process and mechanism in a way that aligns with modern developments.

In the framework of the Ministry of Education’s commitment to the integrity of the educational process and ensuring fairness and equal opportunities among all learners, and after a thorough review of all data related to the names of members of the control and the central secret printing press, as well as the secret printing presses in the educational regions, the Ministry announced that, Minister of Education, Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei has taken decisive and firm measures following the discovery of serious violations related to the management of exams in the secret printing presses and the control work guide.

The Ministry of Education mentioned in a statement that after a comprehensive and accurate review, supervised by Education Minister, Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, the names of the members of the control and the central secret printing press, as well as the secret printing presses in the educational regions, the following findings were made:

  1. There is a first-degree kinship between seven members of the Central Secret Printing Press responsible for printing secondary school exams and their children who will be taking the exams in its classes, out of seventeen members of the Central Secret Printing Press Committee. This violates the principles of justice and the integrity and neutrality standards stipulated in the Control Work Manual.
  2. First-degree kinship ties were discovered between other members of 3 secret printing presses affiliated with the educational districts supervising the printing of intermediate school exams, which constitutes a violation of the regulations governing work in this regard.

The Ministry explained that based on the above and the violations that were monitored, the Minister of Education, Sayed Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, decided to take the following immediate measures:

  1. Completely cancel the decision involving the members of the Central Secret Printing Press and take legal and administrative measures against the violators to ensure justice is achieved.
  2. Cancel all printed exams for the secondary stage related to this violating committee.
  3. Assign new members to the Central Secret Printing Press and select them carefully and precisely according to strict conditions while adhering to examination regulations.
  4. Print new models for the tenth, eleventh, and twelfth secondary school exams, ensuring full commitment to the specified technical standards.
  5. Reform the members of the secret printing presses in 3 educational districts and take legal and administrative measures against the violators.
  6. Print new exams for intermediate school classes in which relatives and children of those whose assignments were cancelled were found in the secret printing press affiliated with the region.
  7. Strengthen supervision over examination committees in all grades and issue strict instructions preventing any supervisor or committee head who has first-degree relatives from joining the students taking the exams. This should be documented according to the (Exam Guide) Acknowledgment and Pledge.
  8. Direct the relevant sectors to complete the tasks assigned to them quickly and accurately, while committing to conducting examinations for all grades on time without change and ensuring they proceed smoothly and according to the established plans.

The Ministry of Education announced that the main objective of these measures is to achieve justice, integrity, equal opportunities, and ensure the stability of the educational process. It stressed the Minister’s constant commitment to the comfort of learners and the smooth flow of work.

It was also stressed that Minister Al-Tabtabaei will not tolerate any violations affecting the educational process. Legal and administrative measures will be taken against violators to ensure justice is achieved and to hold accountable anyone proven to be involved in these violations in a manner that serves the public interest.

The Ministry explained that the Minister is committed to continuously reviewing the names of control members to ensure that exams proceed with complete discipline, particularly in the correction, raising, and monitoring of grades, stressing his commitment to rebuilding confidence in the education system.

What’s more it was pointed out that Minister Al-Tabtabaei is committed to addressing the thorny issues in education, prioritizing integrity and transparency. He pledged to reform the educational system and correct accumulated errors.

Minister Al-Tabtabaei also reaffirmed his determination to develop the examination process and mechanism in a way that aligns with modern developments, ensuring educational outcomes reflect the true level of students and support the future of education in Kuwait.
