Drug kingpin nabbed in Kuwait for forging nationality, trafficking in drugs

He didn't stop at his first crime -- buying Kuwaiti citizenship for a mere 15,000 dinars -- but went further, flooding the country with narcotics.

In a major operation, the Directorate-General for Drug Control have taken into custody a Kuwaiti, whose identity has not been disclosed, for flooding the country with drugs.

After receiving a tip-off from an unidentified source, the security authorities got a warrant issued for his arrest and undercover officers arranged a sting operation, leading to a dramatic showdown with the ‘trafficker’, who reportedly resisted arrest fiercely and attempted to stab an officer with a knife, reports Al-Rai daily.

During questioning, he confessed to illegally acquiring Kuwaiti nationality in 2009 by paying 15,000 dinars to a Kuwaiti man who fraudulently registered him as his son using a fake birth certificate.

Investigations revealed the suspect was born in the 1970s, and the Kuwaiti citizen who sold him the identity is still alive.

Authorities discovered that although he held Kuwaiti citizenship, he was driving a car with Gulf plates registered in the name of a woman, raising suspicions. A search of his house uncovered a Gulf passport and ID card bearing his photo; and one million Captagon (Captidine) tablets

He didn’t stop at his first crime — buying Kuwaiti citizenship — but went further, flooding the country with narcotics.

This individual not only forged his identity by purchasing the name of a Kuwaiti man (along with his father’s and grandfather’s names), but betrayed the nation by turning into a drug trafficker who endangered Kuwaiti society.

The Department of Nationality Affairs has launched a comprehensive investigation. Authorities are now verifying the identities of all individuals listed under the original citizen’s file, preparing to take legal action.

This case highlights the dangerous intersection of identity fraud and drug trafficking, and the grave risks posed to national security and public health when citizenship is exploited for criminal gain.
