Dr Al-Huwailah forms committee to draft new regulatory framework for cooperative work

The Minister of Social Affairs, Family and Childhood Affairs, Dr. Amthal Al-Huwailah, has issued a ministerial decision to form an extraordinary committee tasked with preparing a new regulatory bylaw for cooperative work.
The committee will be chaired by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Dr. Khalid Al-Ajmi, and include several ministry officials specializing in cooperative affairs.
In a press statement on Saturday, Minister Al-Huwailah said the decision aligns with the directives of the wise political leadership aimed at advancing cooperative work and reinforcing its developmental and social role.
She emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to modernizing legislation and regulations that strengthen the cooperative movement, enhance its efficiency, and ensure the sustainability of its contributions to society.
The minister explained that the committee will review the current regulations governing cooperative work and draft a new framework designed to promote governance, transparency, and operational efficiency within cooperative societies. The goal, she added, is to further develop their performance and improve their services to the public.
According to the decision, the committee is required to submit a comprehensive report within sixty days from the date of issuance, including its findings and a draft of the proposed regulatory framework. The timeframe may be extended once for an additional month if necessary.
