Coast Guard foil attempt to smuggle shabu into Kuwait
Personnel from the General Administration of the Coast Guard foiled an attempt to smuggle approximately 100 kilograms of shabu into the country by sea.
According to the Ministry of Interior the market value of the confiscated drugs is estimated at about two million dinars, reports Al-Anba daily.
A statement issued by the Ministry said the security authorities were placed on high alert after receiving a tip-off about the imminent arrival of a ship carrying narcotic substances following which the movement of ship was tracked and a task members from the Maritime Security Department to foil the attempt.
After getting permission from the relevant authorities, the vessel was seized inside Kuwaiti territorial waters, and the seven-member crew was taken into custody.
A search of the vessel Coast Guard men found six jerry cans filled with Shabu. During interrogation one of the suspects, said the contraband was to be handed over to a person, whose identity he did not know.
