‘Civil Service’ rejects ‘Electricity Ministry’ proposal regarding shifts
Sources from the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy revealed that the Civil Service Council has once again rejected the Ministry’s proposal regarding the current working shifts; 12 hours of work followed by 24 hours of rest, then 12 hours of work followed by 48 hours of rest.
The sources stated that the Civil Service Bureau asked the Ministry to choose one of the shift systems in accordance with Civil Service Council Resolution No. 12 of 2012 and its amendments regarding compensation for overtime work assignments and the shift system.
The Ministry officials had previously addressed the Civil Service Bureau repeatedly to maintain the current shift system, but the matter was finally rejected by the Civil Service Council.
The sources pointed out that the Ministry will address the Civil Service Bureau to exempt employees who work under the current shift system from the penalty of absence, as the Ministry was supposed to implement the new shift system starting from the beginning of next year.
In a related context, the Ministry of Electricity has set a number of criteria that must be met by employees who are allowed to hold supervisory positions in the various sectors of the ministry.
The sources said that the ministry has officially addressed the bureau with the conditions that must be met by employees who will fill the vacant supervisory positions in the ministry’s sectors.
Once the bureau approves these conditions, an interview committee will be formed, and the positions will be announced successively to fill them, aiming to enhance achievement in the ministry, especially in preparation for the upcoming summer season.
