CENTCOM says 68 commercial vessels diverted since US blockade of Iranian ports

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) said Friday that US forces have diverted 68 commercial vessels, disabled three and inspected two to ensure compliance with the embargo since the start of the US blockade on Iranian ports, as Washington continues to enforce the naval embargo.

In a statement, CENTCOM said US forces have continued to tightly enforce the naval blockade on Iranian ports since mid-July. The announcement comes after US President Donald Trump said Thursday that the situation regarding Iran was “very good at the moment” following the suspension of Washington’s negotiations with Tehran.

Regarding the Strait of Hormuz, Trump said the United States maintains “complete” control of the vital waterway, noting that numerous commercial vessels had passed through the Strait over the previous two days.
