Cabinet backs minister’s legal measures on raffle fraud, stresses strict accountability

Kuwait’s Cabinet supported the Commerce Minister’s actions on raffle fraud, emphasizing legal accountability. It also endorsed His Highness the Amir’s directives on national unity, reform, and combating corruption, while ensuring the country’s stability and prosperity.

The Cabinet has expressed its full support for the Minister of Commerce and Industry regarding the legal actions taken in response to the raffle incident. It emphasized the importance of applying the law to anyone found guilty of involvement in or violating the relevant decisions, regulations, and systems.

The Cabinet held its weekly meeting today, Wednesday, at Bayan Palace, under the chairmanship of Acting Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef.

The Last Ten Days

At the beginning of its meeting, the Cabinet reviewed the speech delivered by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshaal Al-Ahmad on Sunday, marking the last ten days of Ramadan.

His Highness the Amir emphasized the importance of national unity and reform, expressing his hope for the country to experience significant progress and success in the near future. He acknowledged the challenges posed by individuals seeking to cause division, particularly regarding the citizenship file, and reiterated his commitment to fairness and justice.

Furthermore, His Highness the Amir stressed the need for balance between law enforcement and humanitarian considerations, ensuring transparency and eliminating doubt. He affirmed his dedication to national unity, with a focus on consolidating Kuwait’s national identity as a safeguard for the country.

His Highness the Amir also highlighted the government’s focus on development projects in health, education, and housing, alongside a strong commitment to combating corruption. He expressed optimism for Kuwait’s future, emphasizing the importance of strategic partnerships and sustained development across various sectors.

Moreover, His Highness the Amir called for solidarity and cooperation to protect Kuwait from external and internal threats, urging all citizens to uphold the law and preserve the nation’s security and stability.

The Council of Ministers expressed its gratitude for the noble meanings and wise directives conveyed in the speech of His Highness the Amir, emphasizing that these directives will be implemented.

The Cabinet prayed to God Almighty for the continued blessings of security, safety, progress, prosperity, and flourishing for the State of Kuwait, under the wise leadership of His Highness the Amir, Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, and His Highness the Crown Prince, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.

On the occasion of the approaching Eid Al-Fitr, the Council of Ministers extended its warmest congratulations and blessings to His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, the Kuwaiti people, and all residents.

The Cabinet prayed to God Almighty to bring this blessed occasion back to our beloved country, as well as to the Arab and Islamic nations, with goodness, blessings, and prosperity.

Minister of Electricity

On the other hand, the Acting Prime Minister welcomed Dr. Subaih Abdulaziz Al-Mukhaizeem, the newly appointed Minister of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy, following the issuance of Decree No. (53) of 2025.

The Acting Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the minister’s willingness to take on the responsibility of ministerial work at this crucial stage and highlighted the wise directives of His Highness the Amir and His Highness the Crown Prince after the new minister took the constitutional oath. He wished Dr. Al-Mukhaizeem success and guidance in his new role.

Withdrawals

The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Khalifa Al-Ajeel, updated the Cabinet on the steps taken by his ministry regarding the recent raffle incident during the shopping festival. He confirmed that the matter had been referred to the Public Prosecutor, along with all relevant information concerning the raised suspicions.

Minister Al-Ajeel emphasized the ministry’s commitment to enforcing the law, coordinating with security and investigation authorities to ensure transparency and maintain public trust in the ministry’s procedures. He also stressed that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry would not tolerate any violations that could undermine consumer confidence or tarnish the credibility of its actions.

In response, the Cabinet expressed its full support for the Minister of Commerce and Industry regarding the legal actions taken in connection with the raffle incident. The Cabinet underscored the importance of applying the law to anyone found guilty of involvement in or violations of the existing decisions, regulations, and systems.

The Cabinet reviewed several agenda items and approved them. Additionally, it decided to refer certain topics to the appropriate ministerial committees for further study and the preparation of reports, in order to proceed with the necessary implementation procedures.
