“Blue” cold weather set to hit tomorrow, lasting for 8 days

The Al-Ajari Scientific Center has announced that the “Blue Cold” will begin tomorrow, Friday, January 24, 2025, and will last for approximately eight days, as part of the Shabat season.

The center explained that this period marks the coldest days of winter, particularly in open and desert areas.

Additionally, Al-Ajari noted that during this time, daytime hours will become longer while nighttime hours will shorten due to the Earth’s gradual approach to the vernal equinox.

The center further explained that “Shabat” is divided into two phases, known as “Al-Na’aim” and “Al-Balda.” The Al-Balda phase will commence on January 28, 2025, and continue for 13 days. During this time, the weather is expected to be cold and humid rather than dry, and the severe cold will begin to gradually recede.

Al-Ajari emphasized that the extreme cold will come to an end with the conclusion of the Shabat season, followed by a gradual rise in temperatures as we transition into the “Scorpion” season, which is considered the last cold phase of the winter.

Historically, the center referenced Dr. Saleh Al-Ajairi, who explained that this period was referred to as “Al-Azraq” because bodies can turn blue from the severity of the cold, with some years experiencing harsher cold than others.
