Azerbaijan’s ambassador praises Kuwait’s sympathy after fatal plane crash
His Excellency Emil Karimov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Kuwait, described the plane incident as a ‘tragic disaster’ for the Azerbaijani people and nation, resulting in the deaths of 38 passengers.

The Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan has expressed condolences for the victims of Azerbaijan Airlines flight J2-8243, which was en route from Baku to Grozny in Russia’s Chechnya region. The flight made an emergency landing approximately three kilometers (1.8 miles) from Aktau, resulting in the deaths of 38 passengers, according to Q8-Press.
In turn, His Excellency Emil Karimov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Kuwait, described the plane incident as a “tragic disaster” for the Azerbaijani people and nation. He explained that the stricken plane had 67 passengers on board, including five crew members. Of those, 38 were killed, while 16 others survived.
In a statement to journalists, he added, “By order of the President, an investigation committee has been formed to determine the circumstances of the accident, and we are awaiting the official findings from the committee’s investigation.”
Mohammad Yaqoub Hayatee, Deputy Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for European Affairs, recorded a speech in the register of condolences.
Regarding his assessment of the reactions from various countries to the incident, he expressed his appreciation for the stance of the Kuwaiti leadership, headed by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Meshal Al-Ahmad Al-JaberAl-Sabah, His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah, who offered their condolences to the president.
He also noted that numerous messages of condolences had been received from countries around the world, the United Nations, and many international organizations, including the Organization of the Islamic Conference(OIC), reflecting the magnitude of the tragic disaster.
Ambassador Karimov praised the statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which expressed Kuwait’s sympathy and solidarity with the government and people of the friendly Republic of Azerbaijan following the crash of the Azerbaijan Airlines plane in western Kazakhstan.
