Arab, Iranian Foreign Ministers to join Oslo Forum focused on peace, resolution of conflict

Foreign ministers from Saudi Arabia, Oman, Egypt, Syria, and Iran are set to participate in the Oslo Forum, an annual high-level retreat dedicated to peace and mediation efforts.

The closed-door event will be held in Lørenskog, approximately 15 kilometers from Oslo, Norway, over the next two days.

Among the notable attendees are Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Ati, Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad al-Shaibani, and Iranian Abbas Araghchi, reports Al-Rai daily.

In a statement, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry emphasized the importance of the forum, noting that it is taking place “amid a backdrop of numerous major wars and conflicts, growing polarization, new global alliances, and intensifying geopolitical competition.”

The ministry added that the forum’s discussions will center on key issues such as ceasefires, the strategic use of informal communication channels, peacebuilding initiatives, and mechanisms for resolving conflicts in an increasingly complex global landscape.

High-level representatives from other influential countries — including Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Turkey — are also expected to attend the forum, which has long been recognized as a discreet and influential platform for dialogue among global policymakers and peace negotiators.
