‘Appeals’ upholds lower court verdict, acquits accused of manslaughter charge

The Court of Appeals has upheld the lower court’s verdict and acquitted two defendants of manslaughter charges, following a hit-and-run accident on the Fourth Ring Road that resulted in the death of an Asian woman.

The Appeals Court in its verdict said the case lacked evidence proving the existence of the element of error on the part of the defendants, a basic requirement in the case of manslaughter.

The court said the evidence and testimonies concluded that the victim crossed the highway from a place not designated for pedestrian crossing.

It was also proven that the man behind the wheel did not commit any behavior that constitutes recklessness, negligence or violation.
