Al-Zour South Power Plant unit restart prevents power cuts to residential areas

The Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy successfully restarted a production unit at the Al-Zour South Power Plant, preventing planned power outages in three residential areas.
Despite the risk of power cuts in Hawalli, Mubarak Al-Kabeer, and Sabah Al-Ahmad due to increased electrical loads, the swift restoration of the plant’s unit ensured that residential areas were spared, according to Al-Rai daily.
Instead, the ministry proceeded with scheduled outages in seven industrial and agricultural areas, including Shuwaikh Industrial and Wafra, as part of maintenance efforts. The outages were intended to preserve the stability of the electrical system.
In addition, the ministry is set to enhance production capacity by adding three new units to the grid and will support the Gulf grid with an additional 740 megawatts. The ministry also announced the formation of a Consumption Rationalization Committee to develop energy-saving strategies.
