Al-Tabtabaei inaugurates First Gulf Conference to promote health and educational awareness among students

The First Gulf Conference for Secondary School Students, inaugurated by Minister of Education Jalal Al-Tabtabaei, marked a significant regional initiative aimed at promoting health and educational awareness among Gulf youth.

With a focus on instilling healthy lifestyles through knowledge and prevention, the event brought together key figures from the education and health sectors to address pressing challenges such as drug abuse, counterfeit medications, and digital addiction.

Minister of Education Jalal Al-Tabtabaei emphasized the significance of the First Gulf Conference for Secondary School Students in promoting health and educational awareness and building a knowledge base to help students adopt healthy lifestyles.

In his opening remarks, Al-Tabtabaei described the conference as a pivotal milestone in GCC development efforts and a pioneering step toward enhancing youth awareness. He stated that health awareness is an extension of the authentic educational role, deeply rooted as a value to form a generation capable of making sound decisions, resulting in a balanced society fortified by awareness and experience.

PharmaZone Pharmacy, represented by Dr. Abrar Al-Mutairi, Assistant Director of Public Relations, was the main sponsor of the event. Dr. Al-Mutairi expressed pride in supporting a Gulf vision for health awareness and thanked the Ministry of Education and organizers.

She explained that PharmaZone’s sponsorship stems from a sense of social responsibility to empower future generations with health knowledge, particularly in facing challenges like drug addiction, misuse of medications, and mental health issues.

Dr. Al-Mutairi stated that the sponsorship was an opportunity to deliver impactful health messages to youth at a critical time in their lives and highlighted PharmaZone’s commitment to being more than just a provider of medicines but a health influencer.

She added that PharmaZone actively addresses issues such as digital addiction, e-smoking, and counterfeit medicines through digital programs, awareness brochures, and workshops in cooperation with schools, universities, and clinics. The company aims to expand initiatives that educate the public about counterfeit medicines and promote sound health practices from a youth-centric perspective.

Dr. Ahmed Al-Shatti, Secretary-General of the Kuwait Society for Drug Awareness and Prevention (Gharas), reviewed the conference’s objectives, highlighting goals such as raising health awareness among Gulf youth, fostering a culture of prevention, building capacities, and enhancing Gulf cooperation on health awareness initiatives to encourage a sustainable, healthy lifestyle.

Dr. Mohammed Al-Muqbil, Director-General of the Arab Bureau of Education for the Gulf States, warned that drugs, stimulants, and counterfeit weight loss products are destructive plagues that devastate minds and societies. He noted that the conference reflects deep awareness of the need for integration of official and civil efforts, supported by GCC leaders, and stressed the importance of adopting a scientific, preventive approach based on global studies and a clear understanding of youth needs.
