Minister of Health Dr. Ahmed Al-Awadi has issued Ministerial Resolution No. 197 of 2026, amending regulations governing the general appearance and official and professional uniforms of employees in the government and private healthcare sectors.
The resolution aims to unify professional attire, improve workplace identification, and establish clear uniform standards for healthcare practitioners and technical staff.
Under the new regulations, specific colors have been assigned for clinical attire according to professional categories. Doctors and dentists will wear dark navy blue, while supervisory nursing and midwifery positions will wear navy blue. Nursing and midwifery staff will wear blue or white uniforms.
The official attire for employees working in other auxiliary medical professions will remain unchanged under the new decision.
The resolution also sets detailed uniform specifications for Ministry of Health engineers and employees working in engineering roles.
The engineering uniform will feature a black base color, with the upper section made from highly breathable mesh fabric and the lower section made from durable, field-resistant material suitable for operational work.
The uniform will include adjustable side straps with hook-and-loop fasteners and high-visibility reflective strips in phosphorescent green and silver to improve safety during field operations.
The reflective strips will be positioned on the shoulders, front and back sections, sleeves and trousers to ensure maximum visibility in work environments.
The jacket design will include upper pockets with flaps, side pockets with zippers, reflective strips on the shoulders and sleeves, and designated areas for the employee’s name, job title and Ministry of Health logo.
The back of the jacket will carry the designation “Engineering and Projects Sector” along with the abbreviation “EAPS.”
The ministry specified that the engineering uniform must be manufactured from high-quality professional fabric resistant to friction, tearing and exposure to light chemical oils. The material must also be treated to provide fire resistance suitable for the nature of field work.
The decision further requires all stitching, reflective strips and logos to meet high-quality standards and be securely attached to withstand repeated use and washing.
The updated regulations are part of the Ministry of Health’s efforts to standardize professional appearance, enhance staff identification, and improve safety conditions for healthcare and technical employees across Kuwait.
