Airport customs seize 1.763kg marijuana, heroin and hashish from two passengers

Kuwait International Airport customs officers have seized 1.763 kilograms of marijuana, and quantities of heroin and hashish, from two passengers arriving from Ethiopia, the General Administration of Customs said.

In the first case, customs inspectors at Terminal 4 stopped a Beninese woman arriving from Addis Ababa and after she was subjected to inspection procedures, officers found in her baggage 564 small packets containing marijuana, packaged for distribution, with a total weight of 1.763 kilograms. The passenger reportedly was holding a domestic worker visa, reports Al-Anba daily.

In a separate incident customs officers took into custody an Indian passenger at Terminal 5. He was reportedly carrying seven envelopes containing a powder suspected to be heroin, weighing two grams, along with eight grams of hashish.

Customs officials said the two passengers and the confiscated substances were referred to the Directorate-General for Drug and Alcohol Control.
