257 people arrested including 84 wanted by law, residency violators during security crackdown
57 abandoned vehicles were towed away, 25 cars wanted by judiciary were seized
The Capital Governorate Security Directorate carried out a large-scale security campaign targeting wanted persons and violators of laws, the Ministry of Interior said.
The campaign, resulted in the arrest of 257 persons in addition to the seizure of vehicles and issuance of traffic violations. The Ministry of Interior said four security checkpoints sealing all escape routes. During the campaign 57 abandoned vehicles were removed and 54 traffic violations were issued.
Authorities also arrested 46 residency-law violators and 38 individuals against whom arrest warrants had been issued. This is in addition to the seizure of 25 vehicles wanted by the judiciary.
The campaign further resulted in the arrest of of 14 individuals on whom missing person’s report had been filed by their respective sponsors. Authorities also recorded four drug-possession cases, while two people were arrested for possessing alcoholic beverages, two undocumented workers were apprehended and two individuals were arrested in gambling-related cases.
In cooperation with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, authorities issued a violation notice and closed a shop selling food unfit for human consumption and two employees were handed over to the security authorities.
