CID men arrest four Indians, solve the mystery of diesel theft, damage to telecom tower

The Criminal Security Sector of the Ministry of Interior has solved the mystery of diesel theft and damage caused to the Jaber Al-Ahmad telecom towers following the arrest of four Indian nationals who are now in police custody arrested in connection with the incidents.

The cases, which were initially registered against unknown suspects, have been solved by personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department of the Capital Governorate following intensified search and surveillance operations using used modern technology and monitoring the telecom towers to identify the suspects.

According to the investigation, the four suspects were employees of a company contracted to maintain the towers. They allegedly exploited their access to the sites to steal large quantities of diesel. Part of the stolen fuel was reportedly used to cover shortages at other towers, while the remainder was taken and sold.

During questioning, the suspects reportedly confessed to carrying out the thefts over a period of two years at several locations. Investigators also uncovered evidence linking them to similar incidents in other governorates.

The investigation remains ongoing, and the suspects will be referred to the relevant authorities for legal action. The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to protecting vital facilities and infrastructure and taking firm action against those involved in theft, vandalism or any acts that threaten the country’s interests.
