Fearing for her life Iraqi wife hands over Kuwaiti husband to police

. . . over weapons in their home

In a bizarre incident, an Iraqi woman, instead of disposing of weapons in her marital home by throwing them in the trash or in a desert area to protect her husband from legal repercussions, turned him in to the Jahra security forces. She reported that he possessed a pistol and two air rifles in the house and said she feared for her life and wanted to protect her husband from the consequences of possessing unlicensed firearms.

According to a security source, the woman contacted the Ministry of Interior several days ago and reported that her husband had a 9mm pistol and other weapons at their residence. Jahra security officers were dispatched to the house, where the woman handed them, a sheet containing a 9mm pistol and told them that other weapons were also inside the home.

After consulting the Deputy Attorney General, officers were instructed to seize any additional weapons and take the necessary legal measures, including arresting the husband.

With the woman’s assistance, security personnel searched the residence and found two air rifles. Officers then waited for the husband to return from work. When he arrived, he was taken to the police station and a case was filed against him before he was referred to the Public Prosecution.

The source did not provide details of the husband’s reaction to his wife reporting him and handing over the weapons to authorities.
