- Al-Budaiwi demands immediate end to actions he says threaten maritime security and regional stability
Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi has strongly condemned what he described as continued and repeated Iranian attacks on tankers operated by UAE energy company ADNOC and other commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz.
In a statement, Al-Budaiwi denounced the attacks as a brutal and unacceptable escalation and a serious violation of the security and safety of maritime navigation and called on Iran to immediately halt all hostile actions that threaten security and stability in the region and beyond, stressing that such acts cannot be accepted.
Al-Budaiwi also urged the international community to exert pressure on Iran to stop what he described as hostile actions.
He reaffirmed the GCC’s full and unwavering solidarity with the United Arab Emirates and its support for all measures taken by the UAE to safeguard its security, territorial sovereignty and interests.
