Interior Minister orders upgrade of maritime facilities, border readiness

First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahd Yousef Saud Al-Sabah has directed the continued development of maritime centers and facilities, raising their operational readiness and providing personnel with the resources needed to carry out their duties efficiently.

He also called for stronger coordination and integration among agencies operating at Kuwait’s ports and islands to enhance their ability to protect the country’s maritime borders and ensure the safety of sea users.

The Ministry of Interior said the directives were issued during a field tour by Sheikh Fahd covering several islands and maritime centers.

The visit focused on reviewing operations, assessing readiness and following up on measures to strengthen maritime border security. He was received by Coast Guard Director General Brigadier General Sheikh Mubarak Ali Al-Yousef Al-Sabah.

At the start of the tour, Sheikh Fahd visited the port of Umm Al-Maradem Island, where he inspected facilities operated by the Coast Guard, Ports and Customs directorates.

He reviewed the working mechanisms and coordination among the agencies and stressed the need to integrate efforts and improve coordination to ensure efficient operations at maritime ports.

He also visited Qaruh Island, where he reviewed ongoing construction projects and directed that they be completed quickly according to approved schedules.

He called for the development of facilities and improvement of working and accommodation conditions for personnel stationed on the island.

At Kubbar Island, Sheikh Fahd reviewed security arrangements and procedures for protecting the island. He was briefed on the nature of field duties and their implementation and praised Coast Guard personnel for their efforts to protect Kuwait’s maritime borders and safeguard sea users.

During the tour, Sheikh Fahd also met citizens and beachgoers and listened to their views and observations on services. He stressed the importance of direct communication with the public and using their suggestions to improve services and raise overall performance.
