The Yemeni armed forces announced early Saturday that they had launched a military operation targeting Houthi positions and military capabilities along several front lines.
Army spokesman Col. Majid Al-Nuzaili said the operation was carried out in response to repeated Houthi attacks in Marib and Hadramawt, which have resulted in military and civilian casualties.
He said the operation demonstrated unified command and control across the armed forces, stressing that an attack on one front is considered an attack on all fronts.
Al-Nuzaili held the Houthis and those supporting them responsible for the escalation and warned that the armed forces would respond to further attacks with decisive military measures in accordance with the directives of the political and military leadership.
The spokesman also called on Yemenis and tribal communities to support the armed forces and government efforts to restore state institutions and ease the suffering of the Yemeni people.
The announcement followed dozens of Houthi attacks using ballistic missiles and drones against government forces in Marib and Hadramawt, as well as attacks on residential areas and displacement camps in Marib that reportedly caused dozens of military and civilian deaths and injuries.
