US President Donald Trump said Iran is eager to reach an agreement with the United States but indicated that Washington has no immediate interest in resuming direct talks, while warning that military pressure on Tehran will continue.
Speaking to reporters during a meeting with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun at the White House, Trump said Iran was “very keen” to negotiate and had expressed a desire to meet with US officials.
However, he stressed that the US administration is “not interested” in holding such a meeting at the present time.
Trump also issued a fresh warning to Tehran, saying Iran “has seen nothing yet” and announcing that the United States would soon carry out strikes in Iran’s Axe Mountain region.
He reaffirmed that the US blockade on Iranian ports would remain in place as part of Washington’s strategy to maintain pressure on Tehran.
The US president also reiterated that Iran would not be allowed to acquire a nuclear weapon, declaring that the United States would strike any Iranian facility involved in developing such capabilities.
Trump criticized the nuclear agreement negotiated under former President Barack Obama, claiming it paved the way for Iran to obtain a nuclear weapon.
He further asserted that rebuilding Iran after the conflict would take between 20 and 25 years.
Addressing developments in the Red Sea, Trump warned that the United States would respond to any actions by Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthi movement.
“If something happens in the Red Sea, we will take care of it,” he said, referring to previous US military operations against the Houthis before a ceasefire was reached through Omani mediation in May 2025.
Trump’s remarks come amid continued military tensions between Washington and Tehran and growing international efforts to prevent the conflict from expanding further across the region.
