4,879 reckless drivers and traffic violators caught in 48 hours

The General Traffic Department during a crackdown on reckless driving and traffic violations across all governorates on Friday and Saturday, has issued 4,879 citations.

The campaign targeted unsafe driving practices and violations that threaten road safety, with truck-related violations topping the list with 213 cases, followed by speeding violations detected by radar (212), mobile phone use while driving (175), and failure to wear seat belts (160).

As part of strict enforcement measures, 11 motorists were detained at traffic department for 48 hours after committing serious violations.

Authorities also referred nine juveniles to the Juvenile Police Department for driving without a license, while 19 expatriates were referred to the relevant authorities for staying in the country after the expiry of their residency permits.

Traffic officers also impounded seven vehicles pending court decisions as part of efforts to deal with serious violations and improve compliance with traffic regulations.

In a separate operation targeting traffic disruptions around healthcare facilities, the Traffic Department carried out inspections near hospitals, resulting in 253 parking and obstruction violations. Authorities also impounded eight vehicles due to the severity of the violations.

The Traffic Department reaffirmed that such campaigns will continue across Kuwait as part of ongoing efforts to enhance road discipline, protect public safety, and curb dangerous driving behavior.
