Court of Cassation decides 17,434 appeals in 2025–2026 judicial year

The Supreme Judicial Council announced the Court of Cassation adjudicated 17,434 appeals during the 2025–2026 judicial year, representing an increase of 17.7 percent compared with the 14,816 appeals decided during the 2024–2025 judicial year, in accordance with the official statistical records of the Court.
In a statement issued today (Saturday), the Council said the Court of Cassation continued to discharge its constitutional and judicial mandate by determining appeals in a timely manner while maintaining the quality, consistency, and integrity of its judgments in accordance with the principles governing the Kuwaiti judicial system.
The Council further stated that 9,482 cases were registered before the Court of Cassation during the 2025–2026 judicial year, compared with 13,991 cases registered in the preceding judicial year, reflecting a decline in the volume of newly filed appeals.
The statement affirmed that the Court of Cassation continues to implement the Supreme Judicial Council’s approved plan to address the accumulation of appeals and expedite their determination, in execution of the directives of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
The Council emphasized that these efforts form part of the judiciary’s ongoing commitment to enhancing judicial efficiency, ensuring the prompt administration of justice, and upholding the rule of law while preserving the highest standards of judicial excellence.
