Engineer faces deportation for speeding at 153 km/h

An expatriate Arab engineer has been placed on the deportation list after being caught driving at 153 km/h in a four-wheel-drive vehicle, exceeding Kuwait’s strict speed limit of 150 km/h, according to a security source.
The driver, identified as Amir Zaki, was detected by a mobile radar unit while driving above the legal limit. He reportedly admitted the violation in the traffic report but claimed he was unaware of recent updated traffic instructions issued by the Ministry of Interior.
Under Kuwait’s traffic enforcement regulations, expatriates who exceed 150 km/h face severe penalties including fines, vehicle impoundment, and deportation. Authorities confirmed that the engineer has been referred to the deportation department and was expected to be removed from the country within days or even hours, Al-Anba daily reports.
The Kuwait Ministry of Interior recently reinforced its strict road safety measures, emphasizing that speed violations carry escalating consequences depending on the level of excess speed. Expatriates face deportation, while citizens may face fines, impoundment, and even imprisonment in extreme cases.
Officials said the measures are part of broader efforts to improve road safety and reduce high-speed driving violations across Kuwait.
