Kuwaiti gets seven years for insulting leadership and attempting to join ISIS in Nigeria
Court of Cassation has upheld a seven-year prison sentence against a Kuwaiti man convicted under the State Security Crimes Law for offences related to national security and extremist activity.
The accused was referred to trial on charges that included insulting the Kuwaiti leadership, attempting to travel to Nigeria to join and fight alongside ISIS, and promoting the group’s ideology and propaganda through social media platforms.
According to case details, the accused was found to have engaged in online activity supporting the extremist organization, including the dissemination of content and news linked to its operations, in addition to expressing intent to participate in armed activities abroad.
The court ruling confirmed that the evidence presented established clear intent to support a terrorist organization, alongside actions that undermined state authority through public statements and digital platforms.
