Commerce Ministry issues 5 citations during Gold Market crackdown

Inspection campaign uncovers consumer violations

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced that inspection teams from the Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department carried out an intensive field tour in the gold market in the Capital Governorate, resulting in five violation reports.

According to the ministry, the violations included refusal to sell and offering goods at prices different from those officially announced. The campaign is part of ongoing efforts to ensure that businesses comply with regulations, protect consumer rights, and monitor market practices, reports Al-Rai daily.

The ministry explained that the inspections were prompted by complaints indicating that some shops were refusing to sell except in large quantities. Legal action has been taken against violators in line with applicable laws to maintain market discipline and prevent unlawful practices.

It also urged consumers to report any irregularities or violations through official channels, reaffirming its commitment to continued market monitoring to safeguard consumer rights and ensure price stability.
