The commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), General Brad Cooper, confirmed early Wednesday that no Iranian warships are currently operating in the Arabian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, or the Gulf of Aden, emphasizing that the US military is working to completely destroy the Iranian navy.
Speaking on CENTCOM’s X platform, Cooper said, “The US military has conducted strikes against 2,000 Iranian targets over the past three days as part of Operation Epic Wrath, launched by the United States against Iran last Saturday.”
He stated that the US military is conducting operations “unprecedented” in half a century to eliminate the threat posed by Iranian military capabilities, and that it has destroyed 17 Iranian warships, sunk other Iranian naval vessels, and neutralized air defenses deep inside Iran during the operation.
He continued, “We are focused on targeting all sources of fire targeting US forces, and we have successfully targeted hundreds of Iranian missile and drone launchers,” noting the participation of B-1 and B-2 bombers and various squadrons of US fighter aircraft in the operations.
He asserted that “there are currently no Iranian warships in the Gulf of Aden or the Arabian Gulf,” emphasizing that the US military will continue targeting Iranian capabilities everywhere. He stated that the Iranian military, in retaliation, launched over 500 ballistic missiles and more than 2,000 drones, while simultaneously affirming, “We are against them and we are clearly achieving victory.”
