Boursa ends Wednesday lower as Main Market bears the brunt

The Kuwait Stock Exchange closed trading on Wednesday in negative territory, with the general index falling by 11.73 points, or 0.13 percent, to settle at 8,695 points. A total of 164.17 million shares were traded through 14,843 cash transactions, with a combined value of 50.9 million dinars, equivalent to approximately 155.2 million dollars.

The main market index recorded the sharpest decline, dropping 64.22 points, or 0.79 percent, to 8,063.75 points. Trading on the main market reached 68 million shares executed through 5,359 transactions, valued at 11.6 million dinars, or about 35.3 million dollars.

Meanwhile, the premier market index edged lower by 0.99 points, or 0.01 percent, closing at 9,280.11 points.

Trading in the premier segment amounted to 96.16 million shares across 9,484 transactions, with a total value of 39.2 million dinars, roughly 119.5 million dollars.

The Main 50 Index declined by 45.57 points, or 0.52 percent, to close at 8,646.87 points. Trading activity in this segment reached 62.3 million shares through 4,405 cash transactions worth 9.8 million dinars, equivalent to approximately 29.8 million dollars.

Among the session’s top gainers were Synergy, Enjazat, Digits and Mawashi, while Ahliya T, Nabisco, Cinema and Muntazah recorded the steepest losses.
