Kuwait marks International Customs Day; highlights role in security and trade

The head of the General Administration of Customs, Youssef Al-Nuwaif, said Kuwait marked the International Customs Day, which this year carries the slogan “Customs protects society through vigilance and commitment,” as an important occasion to highlight the crucial role of customs authorities in safeguarding societies, enhancing security, and supporting the national economy.
In a press statement on Monday, Al-Nuwaif emphasized that customs plays a central role in facilitating legitimate trade while firmly confronting smuggling attempts, particularly involving narcotics and other prohibited substances.
He also noted the administration’s contribution to public health and safety, which strengthens overall security and stability in the country, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Nuwaif praised the dedication of customs personnel, describing their work as embodying vigilance, discipline, and responsibility, guided by the directives of Kuwait’s leadership and aligned with international best practices and standards.
He also highlighted the administration’s ongoing efforts to develop national cadres and enhance cooperation with local, regional, and international bodies, including the World Customs Organization, to improve operational efficiency and address evolving challenges in trade and security.
Concluding his statement, Al-Nuwaif extended his gratitude to all members of the General Administration of Customs for their commitment and service, wishing continued safety and security for the State of Kuwait.
