Court of Appeal resolves over 93 percent of cases in 2025

The President of the Court of Appeal, Counselor Mohammed Al-Rifai, announced on Saturday that the court ruled on 62,511 appeals out of a total of 67,020 filed during 2025, achieving a completion rate of 93.3 percent.
In a press statement issued on the basis of statistics from the Court of Appeal’s Clerical Department, Al-Rifai explained that the data was compiled using the Ministry of Justice’s official systems and information programs.
He noted that the limited number of appeals not adjudicated were delayed for reasons beyond the court’s authority, including cases referred to the department of experts or other specialized technical bodies, reports Al-Rai daily.
Al-Rifai described the achievement as “unprecedented,” particularly in light of the significant increase in the number of appeals and the concurrent decline in the number of court agents and advisors.
He pointed out that the Court of Appeal annually provides a substantial number of its advisors to the Court of Cassation, placing additional pressure on its workload.
To address these challenges, the court intensified its efforts by doubling workloads and introducing evening sessions throughout 2025, a measure expected to continue in the coming years as the number of advisors is projected to decline further.
The President of the Court of Appeal commended the agents and advisors for their exceptional efforts over the past year, stressing the need to sustain and build upon this performance in order to further entrench the principle of effective and timely justice.
