Interior Minister leads operation to shut down unlicensed Husseiniya in residential area

The First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, personally supervised the operation to shut down an unlicensed Husseiniya operating inside a residential home, following the monitoring of online content that was found to incite sectarian tension and violate established laws and regulations.

The Ministry of Interior explained that, as part of the Criminal Security Sector’s ongoing efforts to monitor social media platforms, an account was identified publishing content that could provoke sectarian discord, MOI reports.

The content involved reenactments of historical events presented from a partisan perspective and in a manner contrary to legal and regulatory frameworks, prompting immediate action by the relevant security authorities.

Investigations revealed that a Husseiniya was being used inside a private residence without a license to conduct religious rituals in violation of the law, resulting in breaches of public order and disturbance to neighboring residents. Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah directly oversaw the enforcement operation to ensure swift and decisive action.
The Ministry noted that the Criminal Security Sector, through field surveillance and investigations, uncovered that the premises had been deliberately prepared to simulate real-life scenes using specialized sets, tools and accessories, in clear violation of the law and public order.
It was also found that the location used for filming posed serious risks to public safety, due to the use of highly flammable materials and illegal electrical wiring that did not meet safety standards, creating a direct threat to lives and property.
Legal action has been taken against those responsible, who have been referred to the competent authorities, and the unlicensed Husseiniya has been closed. Coordination was also carried out with Kuwait Municipality to remove all external encroachments and violations, and to take the necessary measures in accordance with its mandate to prevent recurrence.
Sheikh Fahad Al-Sabah stressed that the Ministry of Interior will not tolerate any practices that violate the law under any pretext, and that action against such violations will be immediate, firm and without exception, in order to preserve public order, community safety and residents’ comfort.
He added that the Criminal Security Sector and all security agencies will continue to carry out their duties with full force and determination, and that no illegal activities or gatherings that disrupt public order or disturb residents will be allowed. He emphasized that the enforcement of the law is unwavering and that the security and stability of society remain a non-negotiable priority.
The Ministry of Interior also called on citizens and residents to cooperate with security authorities and report any violations or negative practices, underscoring the importance of community partnership in maintaining security and stability.
