MOI takes legal action, impounds vehicles in assault case on on-duty security man

  • Assaulting security personnel is a grave crime and will be met with deterrent legal measures without leniency
  • No leniency in enforcing the law and seizing and impounding violating vehicles in cases of recklessness and rashness

As part of the ongoing security efforts exerted by the Ministry of Interior to combat dangerous traffic behaviors, and within a firm approach to law enforcement, two vehicles previously seized in cases of recklessness and rashness have been impounded, reaffirming no tolerance for anything that threatens public security and safety.

The Ministry of Interior has managed to apprehend two individuals in an incident of assaulting a security man from the Traffic Investigations Department while performing field duties in the Al-Wafra Farms area in Al-Ahmedi Governorate.

Details of the incident date back to receiving a report of a hit-and-run accident on the evening of Thursday, December 18, 2025. Specialized patrols immediately responded to the scene, and it was found that the incident occurred during the apprehension of one individual for a Nissan Z vehicle without license plates, which was engaging in acts of recklessness and rashness in the Al-Wafra area.

While carrying out the arrest procedures, the driver of the vehicle attempted to flee the scene on foot and tried to board another vehicle — a Land Cruiser type — without license plates.

However, during the attempt to enable his escape, the driver of the Land Cruiser vehicle hit one of the policemen, resulting in the latter sustaining injuries and lacerations to both hands and the left leg.

Following that, the injured policeman was taken in an ambulance to the emergency center at Sabah Al-Ahmad Hospital to receive necessary medical care. He was discharged after receiving treatment and undergoing medical examinations.

The Ministry of Interior emphasizes that traffic recklessness and rashness practices, along with any accompanying attempts to flee or assault security personnel while performing their duties, are considered serious violations that threaten lives and endanger public safety.

There will be absolutely no leniency toward them. The Ministry stresses taking the utmost firm legal measures against anyone proven to be involved in such incidents, including the seizure and impounding of vehicles used in acts of recklessness and rashness, and referring the accused to the competent authorities, in application of the principle of the rule of law and preservation of community security and safety.

Meanwhile, some sources said, the vehicles impounded in such cases, particularly those without numbers plates and used in illegal road races or in instances when attempts are made to run over men in uniform in a desperate attempt to escape the law, are crushed and turned into scrap metal.
