Indian Coast Guard Ship Sarthak arrives in Kuwait on friendly visit
A deeply-rooted partnership anchored in trust and cooperation: Ambassador Tripathi

The Indian Coast Guard vessel Sarthak docked at Shuwaikh Port for a four-day friendly visit, underscoring the strength and depth of the longstanding relations between India and Kuwait.
During a ceremony hosted by the Indian Embassy aboard the vessel on Wednesday, Indian Ambassador to Kuwait, H.E. Pramita Tripathi, described Indian-Kuwaiti ties as “a well-established and deeply rooted partnership built on mutual trust and shared cooperation.”
She affirmed India’s commitment to expanding the horizons of bilateral relations across multiple fields.
The Indian envoy highlighted the vital role of the Indian community in Kuwait, noting that it serves as an important bridge of communication and a reflection of the deep bonds between the two friendly nations. She added that the visit of Sarthak further demonstrates India’s dedication to strengthening fraternal ties with Kuwait.
The ambassador recalled several major milestones in the two countries’ relationship, including the landmark 2006 visit of the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah to India, during which high-level discussions were held on bilateral cooperation and shared priorities.
She also referenced the 2009 visit of Indian Vice-President Mohammad Ansari to Kuwait, and more recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s December 2024 visit.
That visit, she noted, was historic, as His Highness the Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah conferred upon Modi the prestigious Mubarak Al-Kabeer Medal. Four bilateral agreements were signed during the visit, including a memorandum of understanding on defense cooperation.
Tripathi reiterated that India looks forward to expanding partnerships with Kuwait in key sectors such as maritime security, renewable energy, digital innovation, food security, and healthcare.
The friendly port call by Sarthak is expected to further enhance cooperation and strengthen the strategic relationship between the two nations.
