Over 23,000 citations issued and 180+ arrests made in one week of intensive traffic campaigns

The Traffic and Operations Sector at the Ministry of Interior under the supervision of Brigadier Ahmed Al-Nimran, Director-General of the General Traffic Department during intensive security and traffic campaigns over the past week have issued 23,768 traffic violations, arrested 43 reckless drivers, and impounded 636 vehicles and 33 motorcycles.

This is in addition to the arrest of 44 juveniles who were caught driving without license. They have been referred to the Juvenile Prosecution.

Colonel Fahd Al-Essa, Director of the Traffic Awareness Department, stated in a press release security patrols across the six governorates conducted numerous campaigns throughout the week, leading to the issuance of a large number of violations and the arrest of minors engaged in illegal driving, reports Al-Jarida daily.

The patrols also responded to 3,075 traffic reports, including 1,341 collisions and 291 accidents involving injuries.

Traffic officers also referred 36 wanted individuals to the concerned authority who were wanted by law for various security reasons and arrested 27 expatriates who had overstayed in the country after the expiry of their residence permits, along with 6 others who could not produce official identification documents.

Al-Essa added that the campaigns also resulted in the seizure of 19 vehicles wanted by security and judicial authorities, and the arrest of one individual who was in an abnormal condition and handed over to the Directorate-General for Drug Control.

Meanwhile, security patrols from the Directorate-General of Emergency Police carried out widespread field deployments across several governorates.

These operations led to the arrest of 64 wanted persons wanted in connection with crimes and those reported absconding by their sponsors and violators of residency laws.

This is in addition to issuing 2,816 traffic violations, impounding 29 vehicles for breach of traffic laws, and seized 25 vehicles wanted by the judiciary. The patrols also handled 175 traffic accidents and 5 hit-and-run cases.

Emergency patrols also provided assistance to 448 humanitarian cases, responded to 11 reports of fights — all resolved legally — and conducted 1,374 security operations during the week, including arrests and support for urgent incidents. They also detained 15 individuals found under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
