‘Education’ enforces directive banning activities inciting religious or political fanaticism

The Assistant Undersecretary for Educational Affairs at the Ministry of Education, Engineer Hamad Al-Hamad, has issued a circular prohibiting all school activities that promote religious or political fanaticism or incite sectarianism or partisanship.
Al-Hamad emphasized that the morning assembly serves as a vital student gathering to foster discipline, national belonging, and readiness for the school day, while promoting patriotism, communication, and social skills. To achieve these goals, schools must adhere to specific regulations outlined in the circular, reports Al-Rai daily.
The directives include:
— Commitment to Cabinet Resolution No. 691 of 2024, which prohibits raising any foreign flag or playing another country’s national anthem during official occasions in or outside Kuwait.
— Adherence to Ministerial Resolution No. 135 of 2025 concerning school celebrations and General Bulletin No. 17, which outlines mechanisms for implementing school activities and setting clear educational objectives.
— Prohibition of any competitions or events that promote religious, political, or sectarian fanaticism.
— Encouragement of activities that support the educational process and develop students’ talents and abilities.
— Mandatory attendance for all students, including latecomers, at the morning assembly to ensure participation in school events.
— Enhancement of students’ self-confidence through involvement in constructive and educational activities.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that all school programs remain aligned with educational goals and national values, emphasizing unity, tolerance, and inclusivity across Kuwait’s schools.
