Jordan confirms safety of Kuwaitis detained on Gaza aid mission

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya confirmed that his ministry is closely monitoring developments regarding the detained Kuwaitis, stressing that ensuring their safety and release is a top priority.

  • The Israeli forces intercepted all 45 ships of the flotilla that departed Spain in early September with hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists and aid for Gaza, which remains blockaded and devastated, leaving 66,225 dead and 168,938 wounded.

The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed on Friday that the Kuwaiti citizens detained as part of the “Global Steadfastness Flotilla,” which sought to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza, are safe and in good health, reported Al Jarida newspaper.

Ministry spokesman Fuad Majali said in a statement that the Jordanian Chargé d’Affaires in Tel Aviv visited the site where Israeli authorities gathered the flotilla’s passengers and checked on Jordanian nationals, confirming they were unharmed. He added that, at the request of Kuwait and Mauritania, the Chargé d’Affaires also met with citizens from both countries and assured their well-being.

Majali emphasized that the Jordanian Foreign Ministry continues to coordinate efforts to ensure the safety of Jordanians and citizens of allied nations who were aboard the flotilla, safeguard their rights, and secure their return as soon as possible.

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Abdullah Al-Yahya also confirmed that his ministry is closely monitoring developments regarding the detained Kuwaitis, stressing that ensuring their safety and release is a top priority. He affirmed that the Foreign Ministry is exerting all efforts to secure their swift return.

The Israeli forces had intercepted all 45 ships of the flotilla, which departed from Spain in early September carrying hundreds of pro-Palestinian activists from more than 40 countries.

The vessels were transporting food, baby milk, and medical aid to Gaza, which remains under a strict blockade and facing a humanitarian catastrophe amid ongoing military operations that have killed around 66,225 people and wounded more than 168,938.
