Ministry of Interior seizes officer’s camp housing 12 illegal workers

The ministry announced disciplinary action against the officer, deportation of violators, legal measures against their sponsors, permanent closure of offending companies’ files, and action against illegal fishing in Sabah Al-Ahmad Reserve.

The Ministry of Interior stressed that it aims to uphold the rule of law and deter anyone attempting to exploit their position or cover up violations, emphasizing that protecting Kuwait’s security and natural resources is a national responsibility that will not be tolerated or ignored.

The Border Security and Coast Guard Sector of the Ministry of Interior, through the General Directorate of Coast Guard, arrested twelve illegal workers of Bangladeshi nationality inside a camp owned by an officer affiliated with the ministry. The camp was reportedly used to house undocumented immigrants and facilitate illegal fishing activities in Kuwait Bay, Al Rai newspaper reported.

The Ministry of Interior stated that investigations revealed the violators were cutting nets at the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Nature Reserve to access fishing areas. They used off-road motorcycles to reach the sites with specialized fishing equipment and then re-secured the nets with iron wires to conceal their activities. The catch was later sorted at the camp and loaded into a vehicle owned by a restaurant affiliated with the officer. Authorities confiscated twenty pieces of fishing gear during the operation.

The ministry affirmed that “no one is above the law” and that it will continue to enforce regulations without exception or leniency. All violators will be administratively deported, legal action will be taken against their sponsors, and the files of offending companies will be permanently closed. The officer involved will be referred to the competent authorities for disciplinary and administrative action. Additionally, the officer who owns the camp has been ordered to remove it at his own expense.

The ministry stressed that these measures aim to uphold the rule of law and deter anyone attempting to exploit their position or cover up violations, emphasizing that protecting the country’s security and natural resources is a national responsibility that will not be tolerated or ignored.
