Cassation clears Kuwaiti man in ‘Clubhouse’ false news case

The Court of Cassation has upheld the acquittal of a Kuwaiti man who as accused of broadcasting false news through an audio clip published on the social media platform “Clubhouse.”
The defense attorney, Walid Masoud, argued that the elements required to prove the charge were absent and that criminal intent could not be established, report Al-Anba daily.
Masoud also emphasized that the statements made by his client were consistent with constitutional provisions protecting freedom of thought and expression.
