Kuwait, Italy exchange expertise on prison management and rehabilitation
Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior Undersecretary Major General Abdulwahab Al-Wahib met with Italian Prison Service chief Judge Stefano De Micheli in Rome to discuss strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise in the management of correctional institutions and the rehabilitation of inmates.
The meeting took place during Al-Wahib’s visit to Rebibbia Prison in Rome, in the presence of Kuwait’s Ambassador to Italy H.E. Nasser Al-Qahtani. Italian officials briefed the Kuwaiti delegation on the prison’s operational and organizational procedures, security systems, modern technologies and rehabilitation programs.
Ambassador Al-Wahib and his delegation also toured the facility and reviewed programs aimed at rehabilitating and reintegrating inmates, work organization and the use of modern technologies to support prison operations and enhance preparedness.
The Ministry of Interior said the visit forms part of Kuwait’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with Italian authorities and benefit from modern practices and expertise in inmate rehabilitation and correctional services. The exchange is also intended to contribute to improving work systems, raising staff efficiency and strengthening institutional capabilities.
Al-Wahib and his accompanying delegation arrived in Rome on Tuesday for an official visit focused on strengthening cooperation and exchanging expertise in security-related fields.
