Nuwaiseeb Customs foil attempt to smuggle cigarette packs

Personnel at the Nuwaiseeb Customs Department thwarted an attempt to smuggle 303 packs of cigarettes.

According to customs officials, a routine inspection raised suspicions about one of the vehicles at the border. When questioned, the driver denied carrying any cigarettes, but a thorough search revealed the packs hidden in various compartments both inside and outside the vehicle, some carefully prepared for smuggling.

Legal measures were immediately taken to impound the vehicle and refer the driver to competent authorities for investigation and further action.

The General Administration of Customs emphasized that this seizure reflects the ongoing efforts to combat smuggling in line with directives from First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef, highlighting the importance of strict law enforcement to safeguard Kuwait’s security and economy.
