Bank employee sentenced to 10 years for embezzling customer funds
Court orders repayment of KD 550,000 and imposes a fine after convicting him of embezzlement, money laundering and forgery

The Criminal Court sentenced a Kuwaiti bank employee to 10 years in prison, imposed a fine and ordered him to repay KD 550,000 after convicting him of embezzling KD 183,000 from customers, money laundering and forgery.
The details of the case indicate that the accused exploited his banking position and misled a number of borrowers into believing they had outstanding financial fees. He then seized those amounts and transferred them to the accounts of expatriates whose expired civil identification cards he kept, including individuals who were outside the country.
The incident came to light following investigations by the State Security Service and an audit conducted by the bank’s legal department, which detected violations and suspicious financial transactions, Al Rai reported.
