MEW reviews service fees and procedures for fairer cost structure
Committee formed to amend 2017 resolution and study supply costs across all consumer segments

In an effort to ensure fair pricing for electricity and water services, the Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy is reviewing the full framework governing supply, connection, and reconnection procedures.
Undersecretary Dr. Adel Al-Zamil has issued a decision to form a specialized committee, headed by Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity Distribution Networks Sector, Khaled Al-Rashed, to develop a comprehensive vision, reports Al-Rai daily.
The committee’s responsibilities include reviewing Ministerial Resolution No. 121 of 2017, recommending necessary amendments, evaluating supply and extension costs across all consumer categories, identifying obstacles, and proposing sustainable solutions, including financial accounting mechanisms.
In a related development, Undersecretary Al-Zamil issued a circular to all assistant undersecretaries, instructing them to provide the Personnel Affairs Audit Section with copies of academic qualifications and equivalency documents for all ministry employees dating back to January 1, 2000.
The directive includes compiling names, civil numbers, nationalities, employers, and issuing countries of the certificates.
The data is to be delivered to the Audit and Follow-up Department by flash memory before the end of the month, in line with a request from the Civil Service Bureau dated April 29, which aims to audit academic qualifications in both government and private sectors.
