Commerce Ministry enhances electronic strategic stock system

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has launched a new initiative to upgrade the electronic inventory and strategic stock system, linking cooperative societies with key government bodies. The goal is to ensure a unified, efficient, and transparent central database for Kuwait’s food security infrastructure.
The system supports Kuwait’s food security strategy by enabling accurate tracking of inventory levels, facilitating real-time needs assessments, and ensuring preparedness for emergencies — especially in light of concerns over regional instability and possible Strait of Hormuz disruptions.
The Ministry’s Emergency Committee benefits from the enhanced system by improving market readiness, monitoring critical goods availability, and maintaining inspection efficiency. Automated reporting tools allow oversight of inventory balances across cooperatives and warehouses.
In parallel, the Ministry has rolled out a revamped commercial inspection system to tackle price manipulation, counterfeiting, and monopoly practices. It includes proactive inspection campaigns and consumer awareness programs to enforce fair market practices and uphold transparency.
