CAPT refers Subbiya gas turbine tender bids to MEW for review

The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has submitted three proposals to the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy for the second phase of a tender to provide efficient and sustainable engineering services for the open-cycle gas turbines at the Subbiya Power and Water Distillation Plant.
The Ministry now has 30 days to evaluate the bids and submit its recommendations in accordance with the listed prices, reports Al-Rai daily.
Meanwhile, CAPT has approved awarding the annual maintenance contract for equipment in the seawater reverse osmosis (RO) desalination unit at the Shuwaikh Power and Water Plant to the lowest bidder, with a contract value of 7.396 million dinars. This comes after confirming full compliance with all technical specifications and requirements.
These developments fall under the Ministry’s strategy to enhance the performance and readiness of electricity and water facilities, especially during high-demand summer months.
Ongoing upgrades and maintenance efforts are critical to ensuring uninterrupted operations and boosting system reliability, thus supporting Kuwait’s goals for energy sustainability and water security.
In other news, CAPT approved the request of the Ministry of Public Works to negotiate on July 30 with seven qualified companies competing in a tender for the supply, installation, operation, and maintenance of mobile wastewater treatment units across several underserved areas.
Four other companies were disqualified for failing to meet the required standards. The initiative aims to provide rapid, flexible sanitation solutions where public sewage networks are currently unavailable, improving environmental and service conditions.
